About fifteen percent of Ghanaians do not have access to electricity, even though there have been massive campaigns in the past to extend electricity to every community across the country by 2020.

This target could not be met as some communities in the rural areas are still without access. The target has now been shifted to 2030.

According to the French Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Anne Sophie Ave holistic national development cannot be attained without quality and affordable access to energy.

She, therefore, called on the authorities in the Energy sector to do more to generate adequate electricity to drive industrialisation and for export.

Madam Ave said Ghana cannot develop without constant supply of electricity. She lauded Ghana for her investment efforts in the energy sector resulting in excess generation which is currently being exported to neighboring countries.

She spoke in an interview with GBCNEWS in Accra.
