Ghana will host the First Africa Data Protection and Privacy Conference in Accra from the 26th of this month to promote Africa’s drive for data protection and privacy laws.
Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission, Patricia Adusei-Poku, said the two day Conference will focus on contemporary national and global issues.
She told the media in Accra that hosting the international conference reaffirms government’s commitment to securing the privacy of citizens, as the country scales up its digitization efforts as part of the national transformational agenda to position Ghana as a gateway to Africa.
About one thousand local and international personalities and institutions have confirmed their participation in the conference.
Ms Adusei-Poku highlighted the nine thematic areas that the conference will be focusing on in the road map towards promoting the enactment of Data Protection and Privacy laws in Africa.
