Guinness Ghana has taken a significant step to deepen its commitment to Ghana’s creative industry by introducing an enhanced prize package for the Album/EP of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The announcement, made ahead of the 27th edition of the awards, signals a renewed focus on rewarding artistic excellence and supporting long-term growth within the music ecosystem.
Beginning this year, the winner of the Album/EP of the Year category will receive a substantial GH₵100,000 cash prize. Beyond the financial reward, the package also includes support for the production of a music video for the winner’s next project, as well as a curated album listening experience powered by Guinness Ghana.
This initiative goes beyond traditional award recognition, offering practical investment into the artist’s future and amplifying their reach within the industry.
Speaking on the initiative, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, emphasized the importance of the Album/EP category. According to her, the category represents the highest form of artistic expression, capturing storytelling, identity, and the overall creative journey of an artist. She noted that this new package is not just about celebrating winners but also about investing in the sustainability of Ghanaian music and empowering creatives to push boundaries.
This year’s nominees for Album/EP of the Year reflect the diversity and strength of Ghanaian music. They include Black Sherif with Iron Boy, Stonebwoy with Torcher, Gyakie with After Midnight, Medikal with Disturbation II, Wendy Shay with Ready, and Kweku Smoke with Walk With Me. Each project represents unique sounds and contributions to the Ghanaian music landscape, making the competition even more intense.

He described it as a timely boost that aligns with the broader vision of celebrating and elevating Ghanaian music while providing tangible support to artists. According to him, the initiative sends a strong message about the value of albums and EPs as enduring creative works, encouraging musicians to invest more in cohesive and impactful projects.
In addition to the prize, the listening experience component of the package is expected to create new opportunities for audience engagement, industry networking, and increased visibility for the winning artist.
The announcement comes at a time when anticipation is building towards the 27th TGMA, which continues to attract attention from fans, industry players, and media partners. With Guinness Ghana’s enhanced investment, the stakes for the Album/EP of the Year category have been significantly raised, setting a new benchmark for award recognition in Ghana.
Ultimately, this initiative represents more than just a prize. It is a strategic effort to nurture talent, promote excellence, and strengthen Ghana’s position on the global music stage.
