Reports reaching GBC indicate that six people have so far died, while seven others have been rescued after a three-storey church building collapsed at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region.
The building belonging to the Church of Prosperity collapsed Tuesday, October 20, trapping some worshippers.
About 65 worshippers were in the building at the time of the incident.
The Eastern Regional Coordinator of NADMO, Kwame Appiah Kodua was at the scene and provides firsthand information about what happened.
“Upon arriving at the scene, we realised that the scope of the disaster was beyond the regional directorate so quickly we liaised up with the national secretariat for some equipment and personnel to be deployed.”
