The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly says it will soon prosecute three hundred residents accused of sanitation offences.

According to the Assembly, the move is to instill discipline and encourage a change in attitude among residents towards sanitation.

The Mayor, Iddrissu Musah Superior in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana described the negative attitude of some residents on Water Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH), issues.

The mayor noted that the Assembly’s bye-law prohibits open defecation, littering and haphazard dumping of refuse.

He appealed to religious, traditional and opinion leaders in the metropolis to support the Assembly to deal with miscreants in the metropolis.
