The Upper West Regional Police Command has paraded some suspected criminals for identification by the public.

Wearing disguises, persons who have had their items stolen or had been attacked took turns in identifying the suspects in the line-up.

Interacting with the media after the brief identification session, the Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Peter Ndekugri said intelligence gathered by the police along with tips from the public led to the arrest of the suspects at their various hideouts between last month and this month.

He said in line with Constitutional requirements, the police could not hold the suspects for long therefore, there was the need to charge and prosecute them.

ACP Ndekugri expressed confidence that the victims who identified some suspects will give credible information that will help the police prepare dockets and arraign the suspects before the law courts.

He emphasized that the police would not allow criminal activities to thrive in the region.

The Deputy Police Commander was unhappy that some media are constantly downplaying the efforts of the police. He asked for support from the media to help the police perform better.

ACP Ndekugri said the police would continue to improve on their mandate to keep residents of Upper West safe.
