A group calling itself Concerned Drivers Association has indicated it will increase transport fares by 40 percent, effective Monday, May 10, 2021.

The National Petroleum Authority, after a meeting with stakeholders yesterday reduced the 17-pesewas margin on the prices of petroleum products to 9 pesewas.

But Spokesperson for the Concerned Drivers Association, David Agboado, explains why an increment by 40 percent is justified.

Head of Communications at the GPRTU, Abass Imoro agrees with the Concerned Drivers Association that an increment is necessary, but was tight-lipped as to the percentage increase.

He called for calm as the Union meets with the Minister of Transport on the issue.

He said the group will come out with a percentage increase later today after deliberations are concluded.
