Women farmers in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West region say access to credit for farming remains a big challenge for them.

They said tractor services are also very difficult to come by in farming season because tractor operators prefer ploughing many acres instead of one or two.

Speaking to GBC Radio Ghana at Nakore on the occasion of the International Day of the Rural Women, a forty-year old farmer Mariyama Issaka said due to lack of credit, she is unable to plough her farmland on time which eventually affects the quality and quantity of the output.

She therefore appealed to government to make credit available to women farmers to alleviate their suffering.
