The Bawku Naba and President of the Kusaug Traditional Council, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has called for the condemnation of all forms of violence in Bawku, stressing that no group or individual should be targeted based on their ethnic or social identity.

Speaking through his secretary, David Adoliba, at a press conference in Bawku, the revered traditional ruler emphasized that violence against Kusasis and Mamprusis must be strongly condemned. He further noted that violence against any resident of the area, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or identity, is unacceptable and undermines efforts toward lasting peace and development.

“Violence against Kusasis must be condemned. Violence against Mamprusis must be condemned. Violence against any resident, regardless of identity, must be condemned,” he admonished.

According to the Bawku Naba, the people of Bawku deserve to live in a peaceful and secure environment where unity and mutual respect prevail. He expressed concern over recurring tensions and conflicts in the area, urging all stakeholders, including community leaders, youth groups, and security agencies, to work together to restore calm and stability.

Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II stated that the future of Bawku should not be defined by historical grievances, mistrust, and divisions. Instead, he said, communities must focus on building stronger relationships founded on peaceful coexistence, understanding, and shared aspirations.

“We must promote a language of shared humanity rather than competing victimhood. Justice cannot assume ethnic colors if it is to command trust and legitimacy,” he added.

He stressed that the town has enormous potential for growth and progress, particularly in areas such as education, trade, agriculture, and socio-economic development. The traditional ruler therefore appealed to all residents to embrace peace and dialogue as the surest path to achieving prosperity and sustainable development for present and future generations.
