The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a commercial fire outbreak at the South Industrial Area in Accra, with no casualties recorded.

The fire, which occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026, involved a warehouse belonging to Believe in God Company.

According to the GNFS, the fire was reported at 18:10 GMT and affected the top-floor warehouse of a single-storey building used for storing plastic disposable materials.

Firefighters from the Industrial Area Fire Station arrived promptly at 18:16 GMT, with reinforcements from the National Headquarters, Accra City, Trade Fair and Madina Fire Stations, supported by a turntable ladder from Tema.

Through coordinated operations, the fire was confined at 22:23 GMT, brought under control at 23:28 GMT and fully extinguished at 23:47 GMT. No casualties were recorded.

Several plastic disposable materials were partially burnt, and the top floor of the warehouse was damaged. However, firefighters successfully salvaged the ground floor, adjoining shops and nearby structures, preventing the fire from spreading further.

Investigations are under way to determine the cause of the fire.

The GNFS has urged the public, particularly business and warehouse operators, to strictly adhere to fire safety protocols.
