Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has donated GH¢200,000 to Emmanuel Asamoah, a Ghanaian who was reportedly affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa, to help him rebuild his life.
In addition to the financial support, Mr Mahama has pledged to help Mr Asamoah establish a cement distribution and construction hardware business in Ghana.
The support package will allow Mr Asamoah to spend time with his family for about a month before beginning preparations for his new venture.
The gesture comes days after Mr Mahama assured Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, of his commitment to assisting Ghanaians affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

At a meeting with Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Ibrahim Mahama, encouraged Ghanaians living abroad, particularly those facing difficulties, to return home and contribute to national development.
He said those who return to Ghana could be supported to start their own businesses or acquire vocational skills, depending on their interests and experience.
Mr Mahama also indicated that some returnees may be considered for employment opportunities within his companies, based on their qualifications and expertise.
