In a bold stride towards national digital transformation, the Upper East Region has officially commissioned three state-of-the-art mobile information vans, marking a pivotal moment in the “Resetting Ghana” agenda.

During a ceremony at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), Regional Minister Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga unveiled the units as a cornerstone of President John Mahama’s vision to reposition the Information Services Department (ISD) from a traditional civil service body into a modern, technology-driven institution.

The Minister emphasized that “this intervention is not an isolated effort but a key part of structural reforms initiated in January 2025 to bring governance closer to the presidency and improve the efficiency of policy dissemination.”

The move, he said, underscores a significant commitment to ensuring rural communities are no longer left in the dark regarding national progress.

The Minister further stated that the retooling goes beyond the vehicles, as the government has provided 16 desktop computers and internal routers for the 15 districts to ensure seamless information flow. To optimize these national assets, the region has been strategically zoned with cluster centers in Bolgatanga, Zebilla, and Navrongo to provide equitable access to government updates.

The Regional ISD Director, Bennin Douri Issifu, hailed the arrival of the vans as a significant milestone in the collective effort to empower citizens through two-way communication.

The ceremony was attended by the Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Muhammadu Issaku, and the GBC Regional Director, Osman Muntawakilu. They were joined by ISD staff and other key dignitaries.
