Live in harmony with one another-  Prof. Mike Oquaye admonishes Muslims

A former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, has admonished Muslims across Ghana to live in harmony with one another to safeguard the peace and tranquility the country is enjoying currently.

According to him, there can be no development without peace, thus the need to maintain peace and order at all times.

Prof. Mike Oquaye made the admonishing at the inauguration and swearing-in of the newly elected executives of the Supreme Council of Ga-East Zongo and Tribal Chiefs, which took place over the weekend at the premises of West Africa Senior High School at Adenta in Accra.

“I’m thrilled to see you coming together to form this association with the view to fostering unity as well as bringing development to the doorsteps of your communities,” he said.

On his part, the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Nuhu Osmanu Sharubutu, who was the special guest in his address, appealed to the gathering and council members to use dialogue to resolve every misunderstanding that will arise among them.

“For us to attain progress, this dialogue will help prevent the evil that will come to us and also attract the good for our country,” he said.

Dr. Sheikh Sharubutu described the peace being enjoyed in the country as a favour from God and said it behooves every citizen, irrespective of their religious inclination, to work towards sustaining the gains made so far by living peacefully with one another.

According to Sheikh Sharubutu, tolerating one another was one of the cardinal ways of preventing “evil in our respective communities for accelerated development”.

Sariki Alhaji Madingo was sworn-in as president of the Supreme Council of Ga-East Zongo and Tribal Chiefs.

The chief of Pantang Abokobi Zongo, Sariki Alhaji Yussif Iddriss Madingo, a celebrated real estate developer, philanthropist, and humanitarian, was elected the President of the Supreme Council, together with his other executives, were sworn in by the National Chief Imam.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GBC Online, the President of the Supreme Council of Ga-East Zongo and Tribal Chiefs explained that the formation of the council was to create unity and love, as well as to develop human resources for the onward transformation of Zongo communities in the municipality and its adjourning towns.

Sariki Madingo believes the Zongo communities in Ghana can do better if the leadership of Zongos comes together and form a developmental alliance to speed the development drive for the Zongo people.

The President of the Supreme Council of Ga-East Zongo and Tribal Chiefs have contributed immensely in shaping the lives of many in the Zongo across Ghana.

Sariki Madingo has so far built a couple of mosques, schools, clinics, and housing for the needy in his community.
