Superintendent of Prisons (Supt.) Samuel Kofi Opoku, a communications strategist with the Public Affairs Department at Prisons Headquarters, has donated 40 boxes of 500ml urine bags to the Ghana Prisons Medicine and Equipment Bank. The gesture forms part of his contribution toward improving healthcare delivery for inmates across the country.

The donation fulfills a pledge he made during the official launch of the Ghana Prisons Medicine and Equipment Bank initiative on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Ringway Assemblies of God Conference Room.

Following his pledge made in his role as moderator of the event, Supt. Opoku appealed to guests and stakeholders to support the initiative through generous contributions. Among the dignitaries who made donations or pledges were the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak; the Deputy Minister for Health and Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah; the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and MP for La Dade Kotopon, Rita Odoley Sowah; and the Director-General of Prisons, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie.

Also contributing were the Chairman of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, and the Chairman of the Prisons Service Council, Aps. Ing. Alexander Kumi Larbi, along with officers in charge of various prison facilities nationwide. Donations were made through the Prison Improvement and Sustainability Pesewa (PISPES) initiative.
