The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), in partnership with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana, will host the Ghana TVET Excellence Awards 2026 in Accra on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel and is expected to bring together government officials, industry leaders, academia, and development partners. It aims to recognise excellence, innovation, and impact within Ghana’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector.
“The landmark national event will bring together key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and the development community,” the statement said.
The awards will honour exceptional institutions, students, trainers, industry facilitators, and mastercraft persons who are playing a vital role in workforce development and national economic transformation. Organisers say the initiative also seeks to strengthen collaboration between training institutions and industry while enhancing the public perception of technical and vocational education.
The programme was conceived in January 2025 through a collaboration between Ghanaian and German partners, including the German Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Since then, it has been positioned as a response to challenges in training quality, public perception, and industry engagement.
“Finalists were selected through a transparent and independent jury evaluation process,” the statement said.
Since its inception, the awards have received more than 162 applications from across the country, following consultations with over 20 institutions and organisations. The selection process, according to organisers, was designed to ensure fairness and credibility.
This year’s edition will feature several categories covering TVET institutions at pre-tertiary and tertiary levels, outstanding students, trainers, innovative trainees, and mastercraft persons in the informal sector. Special attention will also be given to promoting inclusivity, especially female students excelling in traditionally male-dominated trades.
The initiative, according to organisers, is also intended to reinforce the role of technical education in national development by linking skills training to real industry demand and job creation.
“Technical and vocational training as a credible and valuable pathway for career development,” the statement said.
Organisers say, the Awards form part of a broader effort to build a resilient and future-ready workforce through stronger collaboration between government, industry, and training institutions.
