Ghana will discover their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in the draw scheduled for Monday, May 19, 2026, as confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Black Stars will be among 48 nations drawn into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the final tournament. The qualifiers will run from September 2026 to March 2027, giving Ghana several FIFA‑designated windows to secure their spot.
Road to East Africa 2027
The 2027 AFCON finals are set for June 19–July 17 in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, marking the first time the tournament is co‑hosted by three countries.
For Ghana, the qualifiers come on the heels of missing the 2023 edition in Morocco, and the coaching setup around Carlos Queiroz will be under pressure to get the Black Stars back to the continental stage.
Four‑time winners with history in their eyes
Ghana remain four‑time African champions, with their last triumph in 1982, yet have consistently remained among the continent’s top‑tier teams.
The 2027 cycle offers a fresh opportunity to close the 45‑year title gap and to showcase the talents of the current generation, especially the emerging home‑based and Europe‑based stars, in front of a new AFCON‑hosting region that has not staged the tournament in decades.
