The Accra High Court has again adjourned the murder case involving former Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, (MP), JB Danquah Adu.

This follows a plea to the court by Augustine Obour, Council for the first accused Daniel Asiedu to recall the medical officer who brought the report that clears his client as medically fit to stand trial to tender it in through the witness box.

Mr. Obour argued that per the law the medical officer had to be sworn in for the report to be admitted as an exhibit.

According to him this is the normal procedure which the court refused to follow during the last sitting when the report was brought to court.

He was also of the view that it would give him the opportunity to ask the medical officer some questions concerning the report that he wasn’t able to due to his absence in court that day.

The court presided over by Justice George Boadi in it’s ruling granted the request of Mr. Obour saying he is right as article 61 of the evidence act indicates that before any document is admitted by the court it must be tendered in through the witness box.

The judge also said he personally didn’t want anything to draw the case back once it starts.

Justice Boadi accordingly ordered the court registrar to immediately write to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to release the medical officer Samuel Ohene to appear before it in the next sitting.

In a related development the court says it will consider a bail application for the second accused person, Vincent Bossu on the next sitting

The case has been adjourned to August 22, 2019.
