Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda have decided against activating the second-year option in the contracts of Ghanaian duo André Ayew and Denis Odoi following the club’s relegation from the Dutch top flight. NAC Breda finished 17th in the 18-team Eredivisie standings, confirming their drop from the division after a difficult campaign.
Ghanaian Duo Joined During Challenging Season
Both players arrived at the club during the 2025–2026 season in efforts to strengthen the squad. Denis Odoi joined NAC Breda in November 2025, while Andre Ayew completed his move in January 2026 after spending the first half of the season as a free agent. Their experience was expected to help the club avoid relegation, but the team ultimately failed to secure survival.
Ayew And Odoi Reunited After World Cup Campaign
The pair previously represented Ghana national football team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars exited the tournament at the group stage. Their reunion at NAC Breda brought leadership and international experience to the Dutch side during a difficult period in the season.
Ayew Linked With Possible Black Stars Return
Despite his club uncertainty, reports have suggested that Andre Ayew could still feature in Ghana’s plans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign. The former Black Stars captain remains one of Ghana’s most experienced internationals and continues to attract attention regarding a potential return to the national team setup.
Odoi And Ayew End Short Spells In The Netherlands
Denis Odoi made 19 appearances during his stint with NAC Breda, while Andre Ayew featured in 16 matches and scored once for the club. With NAC Breda now preparing for life outside the Eredivisie, both players are expected to assess their next options ahead of the new season.
