The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected human traffickers and rescued 24 girls, ages 13 to 27, from their hideout in the Abattoir area of Agege.

Reports say the suspects, Okon Felix, Michael Etim, Victor Asuquo and Goodness Ebiefie, allegedly trafficked the victims from the Oron Area, Akwa Ibom State, and kept them in shanties in the Abattoir area of Lagos, where the girls are used for prostitution.

After frantic efforts to locate one of the victims, the family reported the case to the Police, after which a search mounted by authorities, led to the discovery of the human trafficking situation.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the incident explained that the 24 girls were trafficked to the state in January, and were rescued by personnel from the Area ‘G’ and the Abattoir Division, while four suspects were arrested. He said investigations are continuing and the culprits will be charged.
