The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of TUC, has resolved to suspend its nationwide strike which was in demand for some conditions of service.

This follows a scheduled meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), on Thursday, February 4, 2021, to work towards the speedy conclusion of negotiations of the Conditions of Service for Unionised Staff of the Public Universities.

“The up-coming meeting between FWSC and TEWU of TUC (GH), comes three weeks after the union leadership declared a nation-wide strike on 13th January 2021, to press home demands for immediate conclusion of negotiations on the Conditions of Service which started in 2019,” a statement issued by General Secretary of TEWU, Brother Mark Dankyira Korankye said.

The statement also requested all TEWU members to resume work immediately to allow negotiations to be conducted in good faith.
