Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber assists Effia-Nkwanta Regional hospital with PPE

The Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber has donated   Personal Protective Equipment worth hundreds of Ghana cedis to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi to help fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The items included surgical masks, disposable gloves, gowns, coveralls, protective goggles, headcovers, and face shields.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Mr. David Ampofo, presenting the items said COVID-19 pandemic had turned every aspect of life around, which required collaborative efforts by all stakeholders to successfully fight the Pandemic.

He said the oil and gas industry was a leader in the area of health and safety measures and was happy to be contributing towards the government’s efforts in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic.

Mr Ampofo was hopeful that the items would go a long way to protect the frontline healthcare workers who were doing all in their power to provide support and treatment for COVID-19 Patients.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Medical Director in charge of the hospital, Dr Joseph Tambil, thanked the Chamber for the gesture and expressed the facility’s determination to provide the best possible protective care for health workers who risk their lives to care for others.

Membership of the Chamber include Tullow Ghana Ltd, Kosmos Energy, Anardarko Ghana,
Aker Energy Ghana Ltd, Vitol Upstream Ghana Ltd, ENI Ghana, MODEC Production Services Ghana JV, Subsea 7 Volta Contractors Ltd, AGM Petroleum Ghana, and Cirrus Oil Services Ltd.
