The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has refuted allegations that Ghana’s media freedom is under threat, with the closure of a number of Radio stations in the country for failing to renew their licenses.

This is because the Radio stations were not shut down completely.

He explained that the move by the National Communications Authority, NCA, to close down the said Radio stations affected only the frequencies of the FM stations.

He said the affected Radio stations continue to broadcast to their listeners using social media and other means. Mr. Oppong Nkrumah was speaking at the Meet the Press series in Accra.
