The Methodist Church Ghana will henceforth judge and evaluate the performances of its Reverend Ministers by the number of Souls they have been able to win for Christ at any given time, according to the Bishop of the Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Prof. M.Y. Edusa-Eyison.
He is also of the belief that it was wrong for people to regard citizens of no or little formal education as illiterates who must be confined to the back room in terms of importance.
The Rev. Minister said the first assignment and number one mission of the Church which God commanded was to ‘go make disciples of all nations’ and that must be the core duty of all Minsters of the gospel and Christians in general.
The Rt. Rev. Prof. Edusa-Eyison made the assertion while the inducting into office the first Executive Officers of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships of the recently established Northern Accra Diocese of the Methodist Ghana at the St. John Methodist Society.
He said it was imperative for men as heads of the home and Church to bear fruits by their life styles, and to spread the gospel throughout the world through effective evangelism.
On the issue of the tendency of most people to disregard persons wrongly described as illiterates just because they could not speak the English language or lacked formal education, the Northern Accra Diocesan Bishop was of the vie that it was an absolute mistake and that most of these so-called illiterates have abundant wisdom and native sense.
He decried the situation where parents tendered to communicate with their children in the English and other foreign languages and that the practice was wrong as God speaks and understands all languages He has created throughout the world.
The Northern Accra Diocese is the 20th and latest addition to the number of Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana. It is made up of 15 Circuits abutting the Northern hemisphere of the national capital.
The induction service was witnessed by the Lay Chairman, Nimo Ahinkorah, and other eminent Ministers in the Diocese.
The NAD Officers of Men’s Fellowship inducted at the Service included, Wallace Essuman, Chairman, Victor Essiam Koomson, Vice Chairman, Attoh Hope, Secretary, Ben Amoah,Treasurer, Francis Adjei, Financial Secretary, Isaac Achiampong, Assistant Secretary with Benjamin Bande as the Public Relations Officer.
