Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has called on the Electoral Commission to publish names and pictures of the 30,000 people who registered but have their names expunged from the Voters Register

This will enable them to know their fate before the December 7 general election. Mr. Mahama made the call when the EU Ambassador in Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at his office at Cantonments, Accra.

He said if the Electoral Commission does not publish the names of persons who have been expunged from the register, it may create confusion at the polling stations since they may not know that their names have been removed and will be at the polling stations to ostensibly cast their ballot.

The former President said, for the first time under the Fourth Republic, Presidential Candidates filed their nominations using a Provisional Register which has never been the case.

The NDC flagbearer deplored the way the EC has gone about its activities from the compilation of the Voters Register and the violence that characterized the exercise.

He said everything that the EC has done has been in a rush including the exhibition of the Voters Register.

Mr. Mahama also spoke against the deliberate closure of Radio Stations perceived to be critical of Government. This, he said, stifles freedom of speech and dissent.
