The Ghanaian Times discusses the strike by the Ghana registered nurses and Midwives Association. The paper suggests that  government and the association must return to the negotiation table and engage further on the issues. The Times is of the view that even though the action by the Nurses and Midwives is legitimate, it is going to hurt the ordinary Ghanaians who need their services most. The paper therefore appeals to the GRNMA to call off the strike and return to the negotiation table in response to the invitation by government on humanitarian grounds

The Daily Graphic welcomes government’s decision to increase the producer price of cocoa in the first week of October. The paper thinks the soon-to-be announced price increase is heart-warming, as it will help raise incomes and improve the livelihoods of farmers, attract the youth to the cocoa sector, and also discourage the smuggling of cocoa beans. The Graphic says serious attempts must be made to add value to the cocoa beans before export to earn more foreign exchange.
