The Today newspaper on its part says it was frightening watching the demonstration on Television. The paper describes the actions of the students as unlawful as they went on the rampage destroying the university’s properties. It says they could have peacefully communicated through the demonstration without violence. The Today newspaper therefore urges all stakeholders in the matter to quickly resolve matters so as not to compromise the academic calender.
The Daily Graphic and the Today Newspaper condemn the disturbances at KNUST. The Graphic finds the violence on the campus of KNUST most unfortunate. It says under no circumstance should it have been allowed to get to that level where tempers rose so high that neither of the parties was willing to back down on its position. The Graphic hopes lessons drawn from this unfortunate incident will not be lost on both sides.
The Ghanaian Times says as Ghana joins the world today to celebrate 73 years of the UN, it is worth looking back since the formation of the UN. The paper says admittedly, there have been conflicts at some troubled spots across the globe but the interventions of UN’s Peacekeeping Operations have prevented some of these skirmishes from escalating into full scale global war. While commending the UN, the Times regrets worsening inequality among countries and urges the UN to provide global leadership to promote equality, inclusive society and a world without wars.
