Trinidadian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, is at the center of a heated controversy after a petition by change.org calling for her deportation to Trinidad has gained massive traction online.
The backlash began when she appeared at the Turning Point USA AmericaFest convention in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 21, 2025, where she praised President Donald Trump.
Due to this, a petition titled “Deport Nicki Minaj to Trinidad” quickly amassed over 49,000 signatures. The petition claims her recent conduct is “a matter of public concern,” citing her political affiliations and public behavior.
However, legal experts have noted that deportation is unlikely, given Nicki Minaj’s long-held US citizenship and residency.
While some fans defend Minaj’s right to express her views, others argue her influence makes her political statements too impactful to ignore. Nicki Minaj hasn’t publicly addressed the petition or backlash yet.
