A possible Sarkodie–Shatta Wale collaboration is on the horizon after Ghana’s most decorated rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, known as Sarkodie, unexpectedly opened up about his admiration for the reggae-dancehall star during a live X (formerly Twitter) session.

The rapper surprised fans when he disclosed that long before Shatta Wale’s breakthrough as Bandana, he was already one of his biggest supporters. According to Sarkodie, Wale’s energy, freestyle mastery and relentless stage presence shaped his own journey in music.

“Bandana was the type that, when you told him to rhyme with anything, he would just go off instantly. As a rapper, that’s the kind of energy I admired from day one,” Sarkodie said.

While Ghana’s music scene has often painted the two stars as rivals, Sarkodie used the platform to highlight how music should be a force for unity rather than division. He praised Shatta Wale’s entrepreneurial drive, particularly his Shaxi ride-hailing service, which is supporting the upcoming Rapaholic concert in Kumasi.

The revelation has sparked widespread chatter online, with fans speculating that the mutual respect between the two artists could finally lead to the long-awaited joint project or performance.

If realized, a Sarkodie–Shatta Wale collaboration would mark a significant cultural moment in Ghanaian music, uniting two of the country’s most influential voices who have both dominated charts and shaped trends over the last decade.
