The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating alleged procurement breaches by the Audit Service.

This comes after a petition by a private citizen who accused the service of purchasing vehicles worth 6.2 million cedis.

Reacting to the allegations on an Accra Private Radio Station, ‘JOY’ FM, the  Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo denied the allegations, claiming it is only an attempt to attack the independence of his office and personality and to discourage the fight against corruption.

He challenged EOCO to charge him with corruption if proven guilty.

Mr. Domelevo hinted that the 2019 Auditing will keenly consider the declaration of assets and liabilities by public officeholders.

Touching on the allegation of GNPC’s financial assistance to EOCO and other Institutions as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Domelevo said this may compromise EOCO’s independence as an oversight institution.
