As part of his government’s ambitious “Big Push” Agenda, President John Dramani Mahama has announced a GH₵15 billion investment in road infrastructure across Ghana, with the Bono East Region listed among the major beneficiaries.
Addressing chiefs and residents of the region in Kintampo, the President revealed that construction works are set to begin on the long-awaited 54-kilometer outer ring road in Techiman. The project aims to address growing traffic challenges in the commercial hub and improve connectivity in the area.

“The Department of Urban Roads has already begun engineering surveys and design works,” he stated.
The outer ring road, once completed, will serve as a bypass for heavy-duty vehicles travelling to Burkina Faso and other northern destinations, diverting them from Techiman’s central business district.
“This ring road will decongest the town, improve road safety, and facilitate smoother transit for traders and travellers,” President Mahama explained.
The project is one of several key road initiatives under the “Big Push” programme, which is designed to stimulate economic activity, enhance trade routes, and create jobs through large-scale infrastructure development.
Other major roads in Bono East earmarked for construction or rehabilitation include the Asueye-Mesidan Road, Ofuman-Wenchi Road, Sunyani-Nkoranza Road, Techiman-Wenchi Road, and Atebubu-Kadjedzi Road.
