Check-in and disembarking at the Kotoka International Airport have been reduced to 30 minutes maximum.
This is part of measures to check the spread of the coronavirus as the airport reopens to international passenger traffic on September 1, after five months of closure.
The airport was closed in March as part of restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
At a media briefing in Accra, Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company, Yaw Kwakwa said the cost of health checks which will be $150 will be borne by passengers.
Speaking on the testing of passengers at the Airport, Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Okoe Boye said government has acquired a testing machine that can identify a positive COVID-19 person instantly.
He said the equipment is 99.9 percent sensitive and gives results in 30 minutes.
The Minister for Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, said all safety and testing devices including other equipment are in place to check passengers on arrival.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye spoke on exemptions that will be given to some category of passengers.
