DVLA clears 440,000 driver’s licence backlog – Transport Minister

Ghana’s Minister for Transport, Mr. Joseph Nikpe Bukari, says the current management of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has successfully cleared a backlog of over 440,000 unprinted driver’s licence cards.

According to the Transport Minister, as of December 2024, there were 440,000 pending licence cards yet to be printed by the authority.

Speaking on efforts to improve service delivery at the DVLA, Mr. Bukari announced that the backlog has now been fully addressed.

“As of December 2024, the DVLA had a backlog of 440,000 unprinted driver’s licences cards. Currently, all those backlog cards have been printed and dispatched to the various DVLA offices for collection,” he reiterated.

The minister revealed further that an additional 26,045 cards are currently going through the final lamination process and will be ready for distribution soon.

“A total of 26,045 cards are currently undergoing lamination and will be delivered shortly,” Mr. Bukari stated.
