Illegal structures at Bawaleshie demolished

A portion of land at Bawaleshie belonging to Ghana Grid Company Limited, ( GRIDCO) but inhabited by traders and citizens has been demolished.

This comes after GRIDCO served occupants with several notices to vacate the place.

An executive of East Legon Artisans Association, the traders Union inhabiting the place, Mr. Emmanuel Asiamah says they do not have the permit but have received several notices of warning to vacate the land.

“We don’t have any permit here, all we know is it’s a Government land and we have been receiving several notices to vacate, we asked them to find a place for us because times are hard but it is unfortunate the evacuation has begun without our grievances being taken into consideration’’ Mr Asiamah said.

Other traders who were wailing expressed worry about the demolition and destruction of their shops.
