Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd in the Upper East Region has in a statement revealed that it has employed more locals than any other people in the company. Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Adusei, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Security Manager at Cardinal Namdini, explained that the company has so far employed about one thousand and four people from the Upper East Region representing fifty percent of their local workforce.

Again, five hundred and sixty two of their workers from the Upper East region are Talensis.

“Currently, 94% of our total workforce are Ghanaians, with 50% from the Upper East Region. Out of those from the Upper East Region, 56% are from the Talensi District.” Mr. Adusei said.

The mining company received a letter from TAMCI on May 29, 2025, requesting a meeting to discuss a proposed agreement. The petition accused the company of failing to offer employment opportunities to the locals breaching the Minerals and Mining Regulations on Recruitment and Training.

But at a media engagement, Mr. Emmanuel Adusei described the allegations as unfounded and unsubstantiated.

“We categorically deny any allegations of partisan considerations in our recruitment processes. Our hiring practices prioritize merit and qualification ensuring a fair and transparent selection process.”

“Our locals are actively engaged in on-the-job training to facilitate a smooth transition for some key positions currently held by expatriates, who are preparing to return home following project commissioning.” He added

He further stressed that the company has “facilitated the establishment of Community Employment Committees (CECs) in all the seven immediate host communities within the mining lease and a centralized committee at the Talensi Traditional council for the rest of the communities in the project district”.
