Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei Asare, and officials of Venture Capital Trust Fund were among persons who appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
Key among issues raised was the alleged illegal payment of gratuity to Board of Trustees of the Trust Fund and how these wrongful monies will be retrieved.
First to answer questions on the issue was the CEO of Venture Capital, Yaw Owusu Brempong.
“Two of them are deceased. One of the deceased has paid and then there are four of them that we know they are in Ghana here.”
Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei Asare in her response said there is no law that members of the Board of Trustees should be given gratuity.
She, however, said the Trust Fund did not wait to get a response from the Ministry of Finance before going ahead to pay those gratuities.
