The Ghana Branch of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Oulema has Organized its 4th edition of the Qur’an recitation competition.

The competition was categorized into three which include memorization of full Qur’an in the conventional Hafs style of recitation, memorizing of full Qur’an in the Warash style of recitation

Others include the traditional Moroccan style of proficiency in memorizing five thematic parts of the Qur’an known as Ahzaab – in a variety of styles of recitation.

The competition was aimed at nurturing in African Muslim youth the urge to learn the book of Allah as a guide to shaping their lives on earth in order to gain salvation in the hereafter.

Addressing participants at the event, the President of the Ghana branch of the foundation. Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim revealed that the foundation is aimed at bringing all Africa Scholars under one umbrella to promote peace and straighten Islamic religion.

He added that the Ghana branch of the foundation will be engaging its leadership to outline other activities for it to support other areas that will be of help to the Muslim Communities in Ghana.

Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim revealed that the Moroccan Embassy through the King of Morocco, His Majesty Salis Mohammed VI has been granting Hundred (100) scholarships in various categories which include Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacist and among others for Ghanaians.

He said the Ghana branch of the foundation is in negotiations with the leadership in Morocco to give some percentage to be given to Muslims.

He said, if the request is granted the Ghana branch of the foundation will focus on only students who have memorized the Holy Qur’an

The Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency, Mrs. Imaane Ouaadil who was the special guest of honor reiterated that some activities will be included to benefit many people.

She congratulated the contestants and expressed her satisfaction with the conduct of the competition.

She commended the organizers of the event and prayed Allah to reward them abundantly.

She also applauded the awardees, the trainers and all those who participated in the Qur’an memorization competition adding that the level of memorization of the holy Qur’an was tremendous and further commended the teachers and trainers behind the contestants for their efforts in preparing the contestants for the competition.

” I was very overwhelmed to see young people who are interested in learning the quoran on this special occasion and the embassy want to say that we very much supportive in this kind of project thats the Ghana branch has organized. This is not the first time that we are here with them and its a very good thing that it has become something good that every year we do. We have taken good note of what Ibrahim has suggested, he is the one mostly entitled to talk with the foundation head. And from my side, I have the right to the ministry of islamic affairs to represent them and i think it’s something that we can do”.

Muhammad Thani Muhammad emerged winner of the WARSH category with Muhammad Awal Yakub adjudged second.

In the JUZ AHZAAB, Shaban Abdul Rahman emerged first with Hibatu Saalah coming second

Mukaffa Abdul Aziz also adjudged winner in the HAFS AN A’SIM followed by Mahmud Muhammad Mahmud adjudged second

Winners of the three (3) categories will represent Ghana in the Africa-wide grand finale in Morocco.

In all 70 contestants from three regions in Ghana namely, Greater Accra, Ashanti and Northern Region respectively registered but only 46 participated in the competition.
