The sod has been cut in five communities in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region for the construction of key development projects in the areas of health, education, and infrastructure.

The beneficiary communities are Kofikrom, Oyoko, Asokore, Bohye, and Mpaem. Under the initiative, Kofikrom will receive an ultra-modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, while the Oyoko community will see the completion of the abandoned school building at Oyoko Methodist Junior High School to bring an end to the persistent shift system.

The Bohye community will benefit from the construction of a bridge over the Apoposu River to address perennial flooding challenges in the area. Asokore SDA Demonstration Basic School will receive a new classroom block to decongest overcrowded classrooms.

Mpaem Number Two will also benefit from an ultra-modern CHPS compound, stores, and a school, a development expected to significantly transform the community.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Samuel Adongo, said the projects align with the government’s resetting agenda aimed at accelerating national development. He indicated that all awarded projects are expected to be completed within six months and cautioned contractors against delays and substandard work.

Mr. Adongo further urged community members to cooperate with contractors to ensure the timely completion of the projects.

The New Juaben North Municipal Director of Education, Hilda Amegatche, commended the assembly for the initiative and pledged the Education Directorate’s support to ensure the successful completion of the educational projects.

The Oyokohene, Nana Osei-Bonsu Sempeh, expressed gratitude to the assembly for responding to his long-standing concern to end the shift system in schools within his jurisdiction.

When completed, the projects are expected to significantly enhance socio-economic development in the municipality.
