A 33-year-old woman, Gifty Addo has been arrested for attempting to smuggle a dried leave suspected to be wee and an opioid pain medication known as Tramadol in a meat stew into the Kumasi Central Prisons for her boyfriend who is serving a jail term.
Authorities say the vigilance of a female Prisons officer on duty at the main entrance of the prison’s led to the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect, whose boyfriend Yaw Odum, is serving a 3-year jailed term for abduction has allegedly been selling narcotic drugs to inmates of the prison for some time now.
Police search in a transparent rubber bucket containing tomatoes stew and animal intestines uncovered thirteen mini parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and ten blister packs of tramadol.
