Zongo Chiefs condemn actions of some Islamic Scholars

The National Council for Zongo Chiefs has condemned the actions of some Islamic Scholars whose teaching and preaching incite the youth to violence.

The council says this practice is not only affront to the Islamic religion,but a tonic to fuel religious tension and strife.

This came up when the Council of Zongo Chiefs had a meeting with the Deputy Inspector General of Police,James Oppng Boanuh in Accra.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the National PRO of the Council, Chief Imoro Baba Issah said Islam frowns on this new style adopted by some persons which have sometimes sought to tarnish the image of the National Chief Imam.

For his part,the Deputy IGP, James Oppong Boanuh noted the the role of religion in nation building cannot be over stated.It is therefore incumbent on religious leaders to work assiduously to nib this practice in the bud.

Mr. Oppong-Boanuh pledged the commitment Police administration to ensure peace and security at at all times.
