The Ghana Police Service has arrested 38 suspects in a series of coordinated, intelligence-led operations across parts of the Tema Region as part of this year’s Christmas security arrangements.
The operations, conducted in Prampram, Tema Newtown, Sege and Kpong, form part of heightened measures to curb crime and ensure public safety during the festive season.
According to the police, the special exercise targeted known criminal hotspots and followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering. The suspects, made up of both men and women, were arrested during dawn swoops and evening raids on hideouts, drinking spots and other locations believed to be used as bases for criminal activity.
Items including various types of mobile phones, suspected narcotic substances, knives and other offensive weapons were recovered during the raids.
The suspects are currently assisting police with investigations and are expected to be screened. Those found culpable will be processed for court, while others may be granted bail after profiling.
Police sources say similar operations will continue throughout the Christmas and New Year period in other parts of the region to deter armed robbery, drug peddling and other offences.
Members of the public have been urged to cooperate with security personnel by providing timely information and observing basic personal safety measures as they go about their festive activities.
