A new training programme aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with emergency response skills has officially begun, with 5,000 participants enrolled in the first batch. The initiative, known as the Fire Assistants Module, is being implemented by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in partnership with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The launch ceremony took place at the Fire Service Training School in Jamestown, Accra. The Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Malik Basintale, officially opened the programme and highlighted how this partnership is not just about job creation but also about developing a new generation of well-trained, disciplined youth to support the country’s safety systems.

Chief Fire Officer, DCFO Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, also attended the event and commended the initiative, stating that it comes at a crucial time and will prepare young people to handle emergencies while enhancing public safety across the country.

The programme forms part of YEA’s broader strategy to reduce youth unemployment by collaborating with key national agencies to provide hands-on training and job experience.

Through this effort, the YEA continues to demonstrate its commitment to preparing young people for the job market while contributing to Ghana’s overall development and safety.
