The Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has pledged to donate ten (10) laptops to the Digital Platforms Department of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation as his contribution to nation building.

The Minority Leader’s visit to the department was occasioned by his interest in the changing media landscape. Much media consumption is gradually shifting from traditional sources to digital and online platforms. The Minority Leader said he is fascinated by how well GBC has moved with the trend.

“Social media is now the driving force. I’m happy that the nation’s broadcaster is also on social media,” he said.

Hon. Afenyo-Markin was in GBC for an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Friday, January 30, 2026. He took the opportunity to visit the GBC Newsroom, which houses both radio and television newsrooms.

He also visited the Digital Platforms Department, where he made the pledge to donate ten laptops, in view of the fact that laptop usage forms a large part of the department’s operations.

The department expressed its appreciation for the Minority Leader’s gesture, noting that such a commitment to supporting the department’s operations was unprecedented and would significantly enhance their work.
