Residents of Huime–Agordome, Aflao in Ketu South Municipality have been left in deep sorrow and disbelief following the discovery of the body of a 25-year-old Nigerian man, in a suicide mission.
Identified as Justice Omar, he was found dead by hanging in his room.
Confirming the incident to Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Caleb Agbezuke, a Unit Committee Member in the area, said the young man had moved into the community only a short time ago but quickly became admired by many residents because of his respectful and humble nature.
Mr Agbezuke explained that although residents knew very little about the deceased’s family background, they welcomed him warmly and treated him as a brother in the community.
A young man who identified himself only as Christian, and who had accommodated the deceased, said the late deceased Omar was quiet, gentle, and easy to go person.
He told the GNA that he returned home on the day of the incident to find the room locked from the inside, which immediately raised concerns.
After knocking repeatedly with no response, Christian suspected something was wrong and called neighbours for help, leading to forcing the door opened and discovering the body hanging from a rope.
Authorities were immediately informed, and the matter was reported to the Aflao Police for investigation.
The Police had since conveyed the body to the Ketu South Municipal Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination as investigations continued to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
The incident had thrown the entire Huime–Agordome community into mourning, with residents expressing sadness over the loss of the young man they described as peaceful and well-behaved.
