The Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of MenzGold (CACM) has appealed to the Acting Chief Justice to urgently speed up the stalled criminal trial of the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1.

According to Citi News, a statement issued on Friday, September 12, 2025, to mark seven years since the collapse of MenzGold, said the slow pace of the trial is worsening the pain of thousands of customers who lost their investments.

“The ongoing criminal prosecution, even though started as a speedy trial, is now moving at a snail’s pace,” the group lamented. “We urge the Chief Justice and the courts to ensure that hearings resume daily so that justice will be served within a reasonable time.”

CACM revealed that the lack of progress in court has deepened the emotional and financial suffering of victims. The group noted that since the company’s collapse, over 240 customers have died, with some resorting to suicide, while many others are battling illnesses caused by stress and hardship.

Meanwhile, in May this year, the Court of Appeal dismissed an application by NAM1 seeking to stop his ongoing trial. The application was tied to an appeal against a High Court ruling that ordered him to open his defence.

NAM1 is facing multiple charges, including selling gold without a licence, fraudulent breach of trust, defrauding by false pretence, and money laundering. The case, however, has seen several delays, leaving affected customers anxious for closure.
