The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has called on Christians and the global community to become agents of peace and uphold strong spiritual values as the world celebrates Easter.

In his 2026 Easter message, Rev. Wengam described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Christian faith and the most hope-filled moment in history. He emphasized that Christ’s resurrection demonstrates that although death is real, it is not final, as it gives way to life, forgiveness, and victory over darkness.

The Assemblies of God leader expressed concern about rising global tensions, noting that war-mongering appears to be increasing while peace-building efforts decline. However, he reassured believers that the situation is not hopeless, urging collective responsibility in promoting peace.

“We must be agents of peace. We must preach peace, facilitate peace and pray for enduring peace,” he stated.

On national issues, Rev. Wengam urged Ghanaians to focus on unity rather than division, stressing that a shared sense of purpose among leaders and citizens would significantly transform the country.

He also highlighted the church’s 2026 theme, “The Faith of Our Fathers,” encouraging believers to emulate the steadfast faith and spiritual discipline of early Christians. He cautioned against false teachings that prioritize material wealth over holiness and character.

Meanwhile, Rev. Wengam announced that Assemblies of God, Ghana will host the World Congress of the

2026 EASTER MESSAGE BY GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT OF ASSEMBLIES OF GOD, GHANA REV STEPHEN YENUSOM WENGAM

It’s an absolute joy to bring you this year’s Easter Message, on behalf of the Executive Presbytery, pastors and members of Assemblies of God, Ghana.

The significance of Easter ranks higher, and runs deeper than what the celebratory mood generally portrays.
Unquestionably, Easter is the most powerful and most hopeful moment in history. To the Christian community in particular, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the anchor of our faith.

As the angels observe in Luke 25:6, “He is not here, He has risen. “

That miraculous act reinforces the point that death is real but death is not final. Through the redemptive blessings of Jesus, death gives way to life, sin is replaced by forgiveness, sorrow turns to joy, and light wins over darkness.

On the occasion of this year’s Easter, it is pathetic that darkness seems to have eclipsed much of the world. Specifically speaking, war mongering is on the rise, and peace building is on the wane. But it is not a basket case. For, the faithful Lord will not leave us nor forsake us. For our part, we have a collective responsibility to act quickly and wisely to reverse this trend and move the world on a trajectory of enduring peace, unfading hope and unfaltering stability. We must be agents of peace. We must preach peace, facilitate peace and pray for enduring peace.

On the local front, our unflinching focus should be on things that unite us, not on issues that divide us. Demonstration of a strong sense of unity by our leaders and followers will impact our communities powerfully and transform our nation significantly.

As we know, Assemblies of God, Ghana has chosen as its 2026 theme: The Faith of Our Fathers . In this context, we need not reinvent the wheel. The present generation of believers should internalize and actualize the fiery faith of men and women of old who subdued kingdoms, tamed lions, quenched flames and suffered martyrdom . All this should be rooted in sound, untainted and unadulterated doctrine. We must expose heiress and false teachings which hypes prosperity over holy living, breakthrough over character and material gain over deep spirituality. If we emulate the true faith of our fathers then Exploits of various shades and magnitude will then follow as a matter of course.

It humbling to recall with the that Assemblies of God, Ghana has been found worthy as hosts of this year’s World Congress of Assemblies of God Fellowship. Preparations are underway to showcase this global event, for the first time in Africa, from October 14-16. Day sessions will take place at the Black Star Square to be followed by evening rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Participating in the World Congress should be the avowed determination and topmost priority of every AG member in Ghana, from Yendi to Aflao, Wa to Ho, Techimam to Sekondi, Obuasi to Saltpond, and Kumasi to Accra. We extend invitation to all residents of our dear country and the international community.

The fervent prayers and concrete support of all is mightily solicited to make the congress a reference point in the annals of Assemblies of God worldwide and in Ghana.Let us pray that the Lord will surely honour His name throughout the event.

Finally, may the power of the Resurrection of Christ , which is described as the best attested fact in history , rekindle all dimensions of our spiritual, personal, marital, family, business, academic, professional and national lives. Amen.

On behalf of the Executive Presbytery of the church I wish the President John Mahama and family, our former presidents, political, business and corporate leaders as well as traditional rulers and everyone the blessings of Easter.
