The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that the Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), will on Saturday, October 11, 2025, commission completed rural electrification projects in several communities within the Central Gonja District of the Savanna Region.
The beneficiary communities include Zolampe, Nikpegu, Torope, Dokope, Kpatinyan, Darivogupe, Bagpe, Dawunipe, Diwurupe, Larigbani, Mammudupe, Sankaupe, and Nyinyape.
According to a statement signed by Mr Richmond Rockson, Spokesperson and Head of Communication at the Ministry, the initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to expand access to reliable and affordable electricity, improve the quality of life in rural areas, and promote inclusive economic growth under the National Electrification Scheme.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to bring together traditional authorities, opinion leaders, officials of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), the Central Gonja District Assembly, and members of the beneficiary communities.
Ahead of the event, Hon. Jinapor reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring equitable access to modern energy services across the country.
“Electricity is not just about lighting homes; it is about powering opportunity, driving enterprise, and transforming lives,” the Minister said.
He added that through projects such as this, the Ministry is fulfilling its promise to make energy “the bedrock of Ghana’s green and inclusive development.”
The expansion of electricity to these communities represents another milestone in Ghana’s ongoing energy accessibility and rural development agenda, aimed at bridging the urban–rural energy gap and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
