The Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication ( GIFEC), Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, has warned that the ruling party will not tolerate anyone using state resources for illegal mining, known as galamsey. ‘’If the NDC finds anybody using state resources to do galamsey, we won’t let it slide’’, he said.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to combat the issue, stating that the President has given security agencies the authority to take action. Dr. Tanko also credited the government for dismantling galamsey communities and called on the opposition to apologize to Ghanaians for their past actions, citing that the galamsey menace became rampant when the past government was in power.
‘’Within a short time, Omane Boamah has been able to dismantle galamsey communities’’, he stressed.
Speaking in an interview on the GTV breakfast show, he also claimed that the ‘’ former President was the spokesperson for Akonta Mining’’ which is allegedly involved in the galamsey menace.
Dr. Tanko also claimed on the show that the past government brought in the Chinese Nationals who were engaging in galamsey activities and destroying the lands.
