A delegation from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), led by Director-General Professor Amin Alhassan, has paid a courtesy call on the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, at the Bank’s headquarters in Accra.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two state institutions and exploring areas of mutual interest in national development.
During the engagement, Prof. Amin Alhassan emphasized the importance of partnerships between key public institutions, especially in the current economic and media environment. He highlighted GBC’s strategic role as the nation’s public broadcaster and expressed the Corporation’s readiness to support BoG’s public education and communication efforts.

Professor Alhassan presented a number of requests to the governor. Key among them was a proposal for GBC to serve as the official media partner for the upcoming ‘Cedi at 60’ anniversary celebration.
Responding to the proposals, Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama commended GBC for its longstanding contribution to nation-building through its media platforms.
“GBC and the role it has played—everybody knows. You are in a different league altogether,” Dr. Asiama remarked. “As state agencies, we have a natural relationship to partner with each other.”
The Governor expressed strong support for future collaborations between the two institutions and assured the GBC management team of the Bank’s openness to partnership.
“We are in this together. If there is any way we can help each other, we will certainly lay out the room to engage,” he said.
Dr. Asiama also called on GBC to assist in publicizing the ‘Cedi at 60’ celebrations, which are scheduled to be launched on August 8, 2025. The milestone marks six decades of the national currency and is expected to feature nationwide activities aimed at enhancing public awareness about the evolution and value of the Ghanaian cedi.
