The Interior Ministry has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, will be observed as Statutory Public Holidays throughout the country.
In a press statement issued and signed on Saturday, March 22, the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, stated:
“The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, March 30, 2025, or Monday, March 31, 2025, marks Eid-ul-Fitr, which is a Statutory Public Holiday. However, in view of the fact that March 30, 2025, falls on a Sunday, and in the interest of the public, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), declared Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as additional Public Holidays to be observed as such throughout the country.”
Eid-ul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). The holiday signifies the conclusion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting observed throughout the entire month of Ramadan.
