The Amasaman High Court has reduced the 15-year prison sentence of controversial evangelist, Nana Agradaa, to 12 calendar months, describing the original punishment as harsh and excessive.

‎In its ruling on Thursday February 5, 2026, the court upheld her conviction but exercised its discretion to vary the sentence earlier imposed by the trial court. The reduction means Nana Agradaa will now serve one year in prison instead of the initial 15 years of hard labour.

‎The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, the date of her conviction. This means she will serve a total of 12 months in custody.

‎The court explained that although the offences committed by Nana Agradaa deserved punishment, the earlier sentence was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case, making a downward adjustment necessary.

‎Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess who later became an evangelist, was convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.

‎She was found guilty of deceiving members of the public during a televised broadcast in 2022, where she claimed to have spiritual powers capable of doubling money.
